Sorry about that, I answer a lot of questions and sometimes have to run two windows, using one for reference to keep it straight in my mind. Tookie looks a lot like Rajah but cuddles like my little Keeta does, it is so adorable.

Thanks Wolf. I love Pionus and a grey would be way too much for me. I remember looking inti them years ago and it would not work -- I am very noise sensitive plus we still have a young child in the house. Pionus are the biggest I will go.

Tookie is singing up a storm on my hand Jellybean is doing some antics upstairs onn the playgym with my 10 year old.

So Keeta still cuddles with you even though she is sith Rajah? Are they house together? That is nice!

Yes, they have been living in the same cage for just over two weeks now. She did go through a couple of days where she bit the ???? out of me when I first let her out, but that didn't last long and she was back to her usual self.

I've had several mate-bonded pairs and I also never really had a problem with them. Sometimes it takes a while for the males to realize that you are no threat to their relationship with the hen but they are very smart and pragmatic animals -as well as naturally non-aggressive- so they learn and accept it with grace.

So they are now together. Tookie does not cuddle with me anymore but they do step up on me together. I get a hard bite from Tookie taking them out at first but then they are fine. If I don't act too interested in Jellybean Tookie is fine.

When I put Rajah and Paquita together, there were a few days that Keeta was not her usual sweet self and would bite the heck out of me a few times when she first came out and still does on occasion. She settled back down rather quickly and is back to loving her time out with me.
So I suggest that you keep doing as you are and the biting won't last long, it will probably pass as quickly as it started.

Wolf is right, it takes them a while to sort out their priorities and new lifestyle but they do work it out. Also, you might want to just allow them to come out of the cage on their own... it works great for avoiding bites.

I should clarify - they do come out on their own but when Tookie lands from his perch to my finger (outside of the cage) it is with a bit of a bite. Children can hold them as long as they are together. It is going well! I am getting my cuddles from the pionuses. Tookie still says Baby to me when he is with Jellybean.

The bite while landing may just be a support or for balance. Keeta will do a three point landing when she flies from the cage to my hand, it is sometimes a bite hard when she uses her beak, but I figure that this will improve with time and experience as she isn't trying to hurt me.
