Great post Hookturn ! Love your response and even got a chuckle about the mindless tricks. I guess it helps on that one to know its history. I don't teach my birds the mindless trick, but it is due to lack of time ( organization? ), not because I am against them. I know that there are times in my daily life where I really appreciate having a few mindless tasks to do as sometimes they can be very calming and soothing.

I am basically house bound and consider the forum my neighborhood. Most of the others like myself consider these birds as children. We love and worry about them and also worry about the other children in the neighborhood.

Please keep the neighborhood idea in mind. We are bird humans who put our birds ahead of ourselves. None of us are as eloquent as Wolf. We try to be like him but sometimes we sling our opinions and knowledge at you but we don't mean anything bad about you. We are just trying to do the best for our birds and yours.

You have the option of many opinions. I try to follow Wolf and Pajarita. I agree with them most of the time but before I found them used trial and error. Since I had no guidance until 2011, I have some quirky methods that my birds and I worked out on our own.

Welcome to the neighborhood.

Before you even set the goal of flying him outdoors, you might want to find out if there is even a harness that would fit such a small bird because I don't ever remember seeing one...

Also, please don't towel dry your bird. For one thing, it's absolutely unnecessary, and, for another, stress is to be avoided like the plague when it comes to parrots as captivity is already terribly stressful to them even under the best of circumstances.

My bird's previous owner did clip his flying feather. So ideally he is almost due for another clipping, as some of the feathers have grown back and he can make short distance flight actually. But as we are stilling bonding at this moment and I dont have 100% of his trust yet. Also I do not know his personality yet... It takes effort from both of us learn about each other. So I really dont want to traumatize him yet with anything.

Ill just let them grown naturally, then see how things go. Meanwhile, we just enjoying the "mindless" little tricks we play everyday lol.

I think my dog is getting a git jealous. Even though he lives at home, and the bird is at the office. He maybe able to smell the bird on me...

Oh, he is definitely able to smell the bird on you - no maybe about it! But I doubt he is jealous... most likely, he is very interested and curious instead.
