Newbie to he forum. Fairly newbie to birds. Howdy all!

Hey all!

I hope every one is well xx

I am daily new to the world of birds and am so far loving it.

I hae had a quaker parrot that sadly escaped his cage and got eaten by our dog :'(

I have baby sat a friends and raised tiel for 6 months

I currently have 5 aviary budgies who are just the cutest little thing to watch muck about all day!

And most excitingly I met today my future alexandrine hen!!

She is about 7ish months old and was hand tamed but has been in an aviary for a cow of months so will need some work to re tame.

I can't bring her home for near 3 weeks because we are away for a week soon and it would be counter productive. But between myself visiting her and he breeder I am getting her off I am hoping she will be well and truly on her way to re tamed before she moves in.

I am keen to have a look around here and get some ideas on how to bond with her and get her people friendly again :) any advice is welcome and in the mean time I will be reading away ;)

Welcome to the forum.
There is so much info in this forum that you will find new things every day that you did not already have. I do. Then add what you know that has not been mentioned. We are all still learning.

Please give us some info on your bird and back round on you.
I thought I was doing really good with my birds but while telling about them the others found things that I needed to fix or add or take away. I am learning as fast as I can but sometimes need to be told a second time to catch on.

I am basically house bound so this is my neighborhood. I know, like myself, that the members of this forum are concerned about the feathered kids other than their own.

Again welcome to the forum.

I can assure you that some of us care about the wellbeing of your birds as much as we do about our own birds and that we are always doing research to improve the welfare of our birds. I can assure you that you will not find any bird " expert " on this forum. This is mainly due to the fact that there are no experts when it comes to parrots, most of the scientific research that has been done regarding parrots has only been done in the past 20 to 25 years and is really just getting out into the hands of parrot keepers and is still having to overcome what was previously though about keeping parrots earlier.

Welcome to the forum. We will be more than happy to help out as much as we can but I suggest you wait until you have the bird and then post specific questions but, in the meantime, you can start by reading other people's posts about what to do with a brand new bird because the techniques are pretty much the same.

PS You no longer have the bird eating dog, do you?
