Welcome and congratulations on the new member of your family! I don't mean to jump on your back from the beginning and I hope you don't take this the wrong way because it's not meant that way. It's that I worry about everybody's birds! I urge you to do A LOT of research on ekkies' diet because they are completely different from any other companion parrot species and, although by their size, ekkies should be as long-lived as amazons, in captivity, an 18 year old one is very, very, very old as they tend to die young precisely because of an inadequate diet so it's hugely important that you are well-informed about it.

Thank you both for your greetings. I will have pics of all the birds on here soon. Also I have studied the diet of eclectus and quite right they are different than other birds they have a longer give tracks than other parrots. 20 percent pellets the rest all fruits and vegetables. Lucky for me zukie has a sweet personality and hasn't made an attempt to bite me even while in the cage. Im in the process of finding an avian vet as I live in a rural area.

Welcome to the forum! And kudos to you for adopting an older parrot! I know practically nothing about ekkies, but there are people on board here that will be happy to answer any questions you may have.

Great on the diet research!!! I don't feed pellets because I don't consider them the best option for parrots so I would suggest you might consider exploring other options because ekkies are one of those species which, even people who feed pellets to their parrots, would think twice about with them.

Now, I am not saying this to make you feel bad or anything but to prevent disappointment in case you are not aware of this. If you are, then just take it as me shooting the breeze. Parrots always are in their best behavior when they first come to a new house, we call it the 'honeymoon' period. So, use this time to bond with her and observe her body language -which is VERY hard with ekkies because they don't display like other parrots species- because, this way, when the honeymoon period is over, you will be prepared for her. It is entirely possible that she will never bite (I've taken in birds that never did change) but, if she does, don't think it's something you did or did not do, it's just that the honeymoon is over and, if you have ever been married, you already know how that goes
