CALIFORNIA!

Postby Newbalicious » Thu Dec 17, 2015 6:29 pm

Hey hey! =) I'm from sunny California, somewhere around Los Angeles. Realistically, I'm in another dimension, but to keep things simple.

I am also COMPLETELY inexperienced with parrots. I mean, I've gone to pet stores with parrots a lot but I've never owned one or took care of one before. Right now, I'm looking into a small to medium sized bird as my first bird. I don't have enough experience to actually take on the responsibility of my dream bird: the Hyacinth Macaw. Money isn't an issue, but can I take on that beak? Nope, nope, and nope. So for now, I'll be exploring what parrots are as a whole and the experience. I do have some birds I'm considering, but honestly, that isn't what this thread is for. :hatched:

So...hello! (from the other SIIIIIIIIIIIIIDE)

Welcome to the forum.

Do not get a bird that you don't really want. Visit parrot shelters and find the one that wants you.
If you are claimed by a Macaw at least 5 years old you can have your dream bird.

Hi and welcome :) For more experience for a macaw you could always do volonteer work at a parrot rescue center for some time, untill you feel you are ready for a hyacinth... That way you will get experience with all different sized and natured birds :) Best wishes, and I hope that you can get you dream bird someday.

Welcome! We will be more than happy to give you pointers but, for that, we need to know a bit about yourself - things like:
-do you work? Full or part time? or do you go to school?
- what are your living conditions? Home you own? Apt? Is there a room where the parrot can sleep?
- do you live on your own or with other people?
- are you in a relationship and, if so, is your partner in agreement of getting a parrot?
