Actually it is a moot point as it makes no difference whether Sammy is kept away from her other birds or they are kept away from him. In either case they are separated from each other, It is still quarantining them from each other. I just don't want Sammy exposed to them to get sick all over again. Regardless of how it is done, I think that we are both in agreement with this. Sammy is doing well but based on what you have posted his health is still fragile and he needs protection from exposure to new diseases or even older ones that he may not have gotten last time. It would be easier if she would just give him over to you permanently.

Oh well, and his quarantine period with you was mostly up and I am sure that he was bonding with you too. This may set him back some due to the stresses of grieving, what a shame. Not intending to quilt trip you, just expressing my sorrow that it could not have worked out better for Sammy.

Owner its willing to keep him permanently away from other birds... She finally understands and she will try her very best to keep him as healthy as possible.

I tell you, I am sorry he is going back to his owner. I have no faith this woman will take good care of her birds... especially Sammy which will require a special diet for the rest of his life and some supplements every now and then.

Sammy didnt wanted to leave and flew to me several times i talked to him he became very vocal and made sad sounds that seemed like if he was crying it totally broke my heart! :lovebird: so we agreed that for now we will share custody when im here i'll care for him visit him make sure he is fine! She agreed to keep him away from the other birds permanently! Then when i graduate his custody will be 100% mine! :D :D So i can say officially i have conure :)

I told you that he was bonding with you and it was for this reason more than any other that I kept saying that he needed to stay with you. At first it was due to the neglect and poor husbandry that was my reason, but that changed as I read about the manner in which he was responding to you. Now he is back in the place that he has such terrible memories of and he has bonded with you and he wants to come home. He will soon start experiencing depression and begin the grieving process and you will need to make a herd choice. You will have to bring him home and figure out how you are going to go to school and keep two birds or you are going to have to quit seeing him until you are done with school. This is so that he can finish the grieving process and move on. If you do not do one or the other, he will keep going into the depression and restart the grieving process every time that you visit him and don't bring him home.

As hard as this is, you need to understand that any bond formed by an adult parrot is actually a mate bond and that mated parrots spend nearly all of their time together and when they don't it is because the missing one is dead, at least that is how the bird sees it because that is the way that it is in the wild, their natural habitat. So if you are gone for much longer than normal, he thinks you are dead and starts the grieving process. It is an extremely stressful time for them and not all of them are able to move on and they just continue to grieve and become permanently despondant.
