Le Chirp

Hello Everyone!

It's lovely to be here! I've been watching The Parrot Wizard for quite some time, and first got pulled in by his darling rescue Macaw, Santina! Since then, I've watched pretty much every video I can find!

I'd love to introduce you to my flock, and myself. I'm Lucy, I live in the Land Down Under (Australia). =)

My flock includes 3 Cockatiels, and 2 Budgerigars. One of those Cockatiels is actually my service bird, and provides me with relief in my Generalized Anxiety Disorder. Though grumpy at times in her personality, she cherishes me and has bonded with me greatly over the past few years. This Cockatiel, is named Kira. Kira is 8 years old, and I have had her since she was a baby from a breeder in our local region of Australia. I am now 22, I got her when I was 14.

The other two are males, a grey named Mitch, and a rescue yellow, named Sunny. Sunny is actually a 'rescue', and my friends Indian Ring Neck did not like him - she bit off his hind toe, and broke his right foot; this is now permanently disfigured. He is now happy with us and our flock, relaxed and spoiled.

I will share photos of the rest of my flock soon, but I'd love you to meet Kira most of all, who has actually changed my life in ways I cannot describe. She's there for me when I cry, and when I have panic attacks, I know where to turn - to her! She does not judge, and I cuddle right up to her when I am scared. I take her out places on her harness, and though her wings are not clipped, she has no desire to fly away (I am always cautious however and will take no risks!) and stays by my side.

Kira does not speak, nor even whistle, but she does not need to. I understand her. =)

I hope to meet Micheal some day and share my story of how much his advice has really helped me with Kira, and that our bond is stronger than ever thanks to him. I truly appreciate it. And am improving so much in health thanks to him too. Without Kira, I'd be nothing!

So please, enjoy these photos I have taken of her, to show you how much she means to me.

While I understand how much you love and care about your birds and Kira in particular, and I am very much aware of how much they can help us with our own difficulties, I really must disagree with the statement that without Kira you would be nothing.

you are selling yourself way to short as everyone, whether they are feathered, furred or other, be they human or not is a very unique individual, there is no other that is just like you in existence anywhere in the known world. This fact alone tells me that you are much more than nothing, with or without Kira.

Welcome to the forum.

Welcome, Lucy, Kira, Mitch, Sunny and two budgies!

I second Wolf's comment on your worth, my dear. Never sell yourself short, there is, has been and will be only one of you in the whole world EVER!

And Kira is a beautiful high pied pearl!

Welcome to the forum.
She is beautiful and intelligent. I laughed out loud with the first photo and the other one with her mouth open.
We get very attached to our birds and consider them our babies. This is the first time I have heard of the bird being the momma and the human being the kid, but these little birds have big personalities and I can believe almost anything about them.
It is good to know that you have this little friend.
Not only do I have the parrots listed to the left but I have others. A Boxer named Jake, 2 Terriers are Riddick and Ramey, 2 Chihuahuas Chloe and Jasmine can create a lot of work but the world would be too gloomy without them. I am trying to get over my missing cat Squeekie. She would crawl under my arm and be my Teddy Bear every night.
