Ear-bites... yeah...

This is why I wear my hair DOWN when the bird is riding around on my shoulder. If it's up in a bun or ponytail, I'm likely to get a nip when His Majesty is displeased with something.

I have been very lucky in regard to Kiki in this area, when she is on my shoulder and becomes irritated with my doing things, especially those that throw her off balance she usually bops me with her beak. This is much to be desired over her bites because when she resorts to biting there is no such a thing as being gentle or reserved it is a full on grab as much of the succulent flesh to eat as possible.

I HATE those "marks of shame" when I have worn my hair up while I ...
---- allowed someone too close
---- moved too quickly when he's on my shoulder
---- touched or lifted an inappropriate item
---- failed to share a treat

The Rickeybird is a cruel but consistent master.

Forgetful... perhaps. Cruel... doubtful. Consistent... definitely. He is just trying to remind you, but as a bird, shall we say that you are somewhat lacking. Lacking in protective feathering, although he should not forget that he does.

Yep, it is as Wolf says. It's our fault for setting ourselves up as their mates when, in reality, we make terrible birds... especially because we are so prone to having 'affairs' with our human better halves! I mean, who can blame them? We can't be trusted!

You're both absolutely right!

Poor ol' Rickeybird... tasked with overseeing a gigantic featherless hen who doesn't have a clue about how to behave herself.

He should be knighted or something.

Well, as you know, Sir Rickeybird is quite possibly past his prime, although I honestly can't see it, but no matter what - NO BIRDIE VIAGRA!

Ahhh, but the thing is that birds don't need Viagra. They can have sex and even raise babies when they are very, very old because they never go through any type of menopause, they keep on producing sexual hormones until they die. See this (and take into consideration that it used to be believed that the life expectancy of this species was 40 years only and that she is a 'cougar' :D ): http://newsfeed.time.com/2013/02/12/wor ... at-age-62/

WOW!

What an incredible story! Thanks for that!

So I can expect the Rickeybird to be a macho (literally, in Spanish, and figuratively, in English) for the rest of his days!!!

Ay ay ayyyyyy!
