Just a side-note...
I read that parrots see infra-red... and for example, the Black Lorie is actually infra-red.
I need to research that more.
If true............................. WOW!

Oh wow, I didn't know that about the color thing. That's really interesting and it kind of explains why he runs out towards me when I'm wearing vibrant colors. I just figured he really liked bright colors but I'm wondering now if I glow or something. When I wear bright yellow, pink and lime green he's just fixated on me and won't leave my side. Thank you Wolf for the cage advice and I will do just that.

They can see more when you use a UV light. They see brighter colors.

I am not sure but I think that you mean that they see into the ultra violet light ranges which are invisible to us. If you have one of those old black lights you really should turn off the lights for a short time and look at your bird with just the black light on for a couple of minutes. some of our parrots positively glow when you see them under a black light.

I'm going to try the black light thing just to see if he glows. Pretty sure I have one somewhere from the kids. Also, happy to say George ate his blueberry this morning-- the whole thing :P

Not Kookooloo, she will bite the blueberry open and mash the inside of it and lick out the moisture and keep repeating this until she is done with it.

I think that you mean ultra violet light and not infra red. Here is a good article on birds' ability to see in UV (which makes what we think a bird of perfectly uniform black plumage look as if it has spots):

http://www.nwf.org/News-and-Magazines/N ... ision.aspx

And here is a study that shows the same birds photographed under normal light and then under UV light:

Yes, mine would 'scoop' the inside and leave the 'skin' - Parrots are very polite 'people', they peel all their fruits

I would not be too concerned over the mix up between infra red and ultra violet, they are both parts of the light spectrum that we can't see. Infra red would be like being able to see heat and would be useful for a predator like wolves which I believe that I had read sometime in the past and had locked in some dim distant portion of my brain that wolves and some other predators might actually be able to see to some degree.
