An old bird

The woman who rescued George and who I got him from contacted me and asked if she could have the cage back due to all the "give ups" she takes in. When she first gave him to me this was an old extra cage she had and told me just to take it. I just bought a new one on Amazon and it's the exact same size but different color. George misses it and now makes his way down the foyer to sit on it. It's leaving by Friday so he might be weird that day. Poor guy...... He can be a little funny with change. He doesn't like the corner away from the window either but with the Hawks perched on my house and trees I have no choice. My neighbor informed me this morning that hawks are on my roof and in my trees. He thought they were watching my dog but I think she's a little big for them. Told him about how they by George's window and he couldn't believe it. I wish they'd just fly away. Coyotes run around here too at night. I hear them in the distance. They've always been arond and the Hawks I'd always just see flying way up high in circles. They're huge too! The one I chased away yesterday was in the grass and I couldn't believe how tall he was. Just a huge beautiful bird. A bird I want gone

I rarely have a problem with animals that I don't want hanging around, I just put a couple of rounds from my .44 magnum into the hillside and they stay away.

While there are some animals that I prefer to keep away from the house area, I don't want to hurt any of them, but they have the rest of my 6 acres to live, hunt and play in. I try everything else that I can before resorting to the .44 magnum. It is very loud and it scares my birds too, but choosing between the very occasional scar and their safety, I will choose safety every time.

Crows are pretty non agressive to prey species. In my yard they will hang out with the sparrows, the quails, the pidgeons, and the Magpies. They will gang up on predator species likes hawk, eagles, and even man if man gets to close to where they are nesting. The Magpies and the Crows are not much interested in my parrots.

i always know when a Hawk or Eagle are around, even if they are such a tiny speck I cant see them. The parrots will be looking up and the quails and sparrows will hide under the lilac bushes and the crows and magpies will squawk warnngs before they leave the area.

To protect my Cockatiels, my son is putting hard wear cloth (cage wire) on the windows that the birds get in. They love to sit on the window sill and look out. We have a lot of birds of prey in this area and other critters who would love to jump in the window after the birds. A cannot trust just the screen to protect them.

Window screens are great things for helping to protect your birds, mainly from insects which is what they were designed for. When it comes to anything larger something stronger is needed.

Yes, screens are terribly flimsy and something else needs to be installed for real safety (I would suggest bars). And it's not only because of people or predators that might tear the screen, it's also because of sudden storms or high winds that might break a branch off a tree and send it flying through the air just to crash against your screen, knocking it down. That happened to me in Pa and I lost a few birds that way...

George's mon, why don't you ask the woman if she would take some money for it so you can keep it? I know that new cages are so much better (and prettier!) than old ones but, in most cases, the bird prefers its old one to the new one.
