Nice to Meet Everyone

Postby TheJennyBoo » Wed Jan 13, 2016 8:29 pm

Hello Fellow Bird Lovers :)

I just wanted to say hello to everyone. I have been blessed with a wonderful flock of birds. I currently have six, they are all here because they were no longer wanted in their previous homes and they are great! Each has a wonderful personality and they make me smile everyday.

I volunteer at an exotic bird store in my spare time, I have two adult children who work in an exotic bird store, and I spend most of my time living for the birds! I make their toys, do their dishes, clean their houses, oh yeah they have me trained, I even speak on command! :)

I look forward to getting to know everyone and hope I can contribute to this community in some way and make some new friends with common interests.

Welcome to the forum. I appreciate your taking in the birds and caring for them I have 7 bird that came to me mostly as both abused and unwanted. Bird stores have a terrible reputation as most of the sale people have no idea about birds and although there may be some good one most of us don't know of them. So if nothing else you may be able to teach us that not all of them are as bad as most have experienced so far. I wish that the stores that sod birds would have some sort of training program for their employees so that the birds were treated better and that people that wanted to get birds would be able to get some real information about the birds and what life with them is like. I for one would love to read tales of good things from a bird store, it would be refreshing to say the least.

Welcome to the forum, Jenny.
They are your children and children get more attention than the mom gives herself. I think you are a good mom.

Welcome to the forum! Have you had your birds for long? What are their names, genders and ages? Were they unwanted because of medical or behavioral issues? As you can see, we are very nosy when it comes to birds

Unfortunately, I have to agree with Wolf on the general opinion of bird stores and the people who own or work there so I hope from the bottom of my heart that your love for them is a sign that things are beginning to change in the pet parrot world.

I want to try welcoming you once again as I don't feel that, I did it as well as I could have. I had just finished reading several postings on another forum about the abuse of birds at some pet stores and how some people who were totally inexperienced with parrots were lied to about parrots that they bought and could not get any information about the parrot to help them in adjusting to life with a parrot and one of them was bitten by their new cockatoo and had to go to the emergency room after being attacked by the bird. It was a bad match right from the beginning and all of it could have easily been prevented right at the pet store.

I would really love to hear much more about your birds as well as seeing pictures of your flock. We welcome your knowledge and experience and we really enjoy stories of their antics while they are busy doing bird things as they are very amusing and wonderful companions. Welcome to the forum.
