New to the forum!

Postby Crazy Conure » Tue Jan 19, 2016 11:54 am

Hey everyone,

I am a Sun Conure owner for 8-9 months already. I bought him as a baby and hand fed him. Here is a picture of him or her (not sure of sex)

Welcome to the forum! I can see part of it but, if this picture was taken recently (after you acquiring the bird as a baby and keeping it for the last 8 to 9 months), the bird is not a sun conure, it's a Jenday or a Sunday. Sun conures have yellow/orange on their backs and tops of their wings while all Jendays and some Sundays (mix of a Sun and a Jenday) have green, like this bird has. But it's a BEAUTIFUL little bird!,

I don't know why it's showing part of it. The forum probably resized it but cropped the rest of the picture out to fix the forum width. Thanks but I know he is a sun conure, he was still young when that picture was taken. He has a lot more yellow now

Hey B! :D good to see you here! Welcome to the parrot forum. I hope Rio is doing well? :)

Oddly enough, when you post a reply and scroll down on that "topic review" thing, it shows the whole picture. I think it might be this forum's image formatting, or something (not sure of the technical terms). It's not as good with photobucket. For this website, I use "tinypic".

Now I've seen more recent images of Rio. This was when he was younger for sure, because his feathers are a much brighter yellow now. :)

Ahhh, yes, they molt the green into yellow/orange on their juvenile molt. I have a female sun conure (her name is Sunny and she is 10 years old) but, unfortunately, the previous owner free-fed her cheerios which have way too much iron for birds so now her liver is affected.
