Hello From South Carolina, baby sun/Jenday conure

Postby Superman2016 » Fri Feb 05, 2016 7:36 pm

I have a baby Jenday/Sun the breeder who sold him got him and s bunch of others from someone else. They were a mix of both kinds. So I don't know which one he is. But I had him DNA sexed through Animal genetics in Florida. He is 5.5 weeks and still very much a baby as he loves to cuddle ALL the time . I have hopes of flight training him , and clicker training/tricks. I also have budgies.

Awww, a little baby! What's his name? And where are our pictures. I hope you are handfeeding him several times a day because, at this early age, they still need it. Don't worry about training yet, concentrate on cuddling and feeding him, that's all you need to do at this point in time because, besides, the deeper the bond you create, the easier it will be to train him.

As to whether it's a sun or a jenday, in reality, it doesn't even matter, they are VERY similar in temperament (I have a female sun and a male jenday) and equally beautiful! Usually, jendays don't have red on their faces at that age while sunnies are beginning to show some. Also (but this doesn't happen all the time), sunnies have a sprinkling of yellow feathers on their wings or shoulders while jendays don't have any.

I'm in the process of making a Facebook page as well as adding s YouTube channel for him, just for fun to show his growth and progress. I wish I had thought of doing the Facebook page when we first got him because all my posts , pics , and videos are o my personal page. I'll let you know when I update those. Since he does not sleep perched yet, We have to hold him for every nap. Yes, he is hand feeding still. He is growing and enjoying tasting fruits and veggies since yesterday or the day before between his normal formula feedings. I really think he is a Jenday by his coloring and after looking at many photos and videos online of both Jendays and Suns. No name yet.

You. Can view his pictures and videos from the day I brought him , here:

AWWWWWWWW! He/she is ADORABLE!!!! Better get it DNA'd soon so you can start using the right words with him/her because, even though you can use an unisex name, once they get used to the Good Boy or Good Girl, you can't change it

Well, he has a lot of the dark orange on his belly, under the wings, and back. as well the little "mask" or sun glasses of orange coloring around his eyes and forehead. I am still working on his youtube page, and I promise the posts with all his pictures and videos from jan 16 when he came home, until today will be on there very soon.

He has already been DNA sexed , very early on. So yes, HE is a boy ;-)
I had his blood taken and sent it off to avian biotech /Animal genetics down in Florida the first week we got him. but thanks for the suggestion  I have not thought of a name yet. I am thinking of superman, or the name superman had before coming to earth (have to look it up online, I don't even know what it is ) , Micah or James, something else.

here he is, the day we brought him home :

And this was yesterday:

And what I woke up to find this morning. (SO CUTE)
*By the way, he is only in this baby carrier cage at NIGHT for sleep only, because he loves it,and cant sleep perched in a cage yet.* His actual cage is huge. 30something by 30something by 60something inches.
