Hi my name is Merideth and I am a new member. I have basically fostered a green cheek conure for about six months now. Her name is Sadie. Her owner does not actually know if she is male or female. Needless to say I fell hard for this bird and I wanted one of my own. I got my Edgar about 3 months ago. He is a baby. Almost ten months old! I already love him to the ends of the earth. Before I brought him home I visited him everyday for two months and we formed a relationship. The day I brought him home was very happy, also very scary! The bird who loved me so much and seemed to beg to come home with me for months got there and acted scared and withdrawn. I was devestated, but I left him be and within a couple of days he was all over me again! Since then we have been nothing but happy! I want to be able to reach out and ask for advice from experienced owners since I am so new to this! Thanks for inviting me in and I look forward to talking more in the future!

Welcome to the forum. I take it that Edgar is a U2. I saw on your profile that you listed a GCC and a U2. Anyway feel free to ask any questions that you may have and we will do our best to help you. Also feel free to share pictures of your bird friends as well as stories about them as we love both.

Welcome to the forum.
This forum feels like a neighborhood to me. All the parents get together and talk about our babies. You can ask any question and be sure it will be answered he same day. We brag about our babies but want to love yours too. We are concerned about each one of them.

There are no dumb questions and what you think is dumb may be something that each of us are concerned about. Poop is even a good topic and when brought up gets a lot of response.

Please share what you know too. We want to hear more about yours. While posting about your baby you may touch on a subject that someone else needs help with.

Welcome, Merideth and Edgar! Wow! You went from 6 months of experience with a GCC to an umbrella! That takes guts!

Thanks for the warm welcome wishes everyone! I do understand it was a big leap to jump right into getting a U2, but it was the bird I wanted. I did my research and I also formed a relationship with him before I brought him home. I have a wonderful avian vet and a pretty good support system, especially with the help and advice from good people like yourselves! I know have a big challenge ahead of me raising Edgar, but I'm excited and motivated. I've always been an animal lover and I don't give up on my pets. He is a member of my family now. It's great to know if I have any issues or concerns there are people with lots of experience that I can talk to. Thanks again
