Hello!

Postby Veryna » Mon May 09, 2016 3:17 pm

Hallo all! I'm Veryna, long time animal enthusiast and first time bird owner. I currently own one bird, Pickles the Quaker Parrot (although sometimes it seems he owns me more than I own him). I'm still figuring out all this bird business as I go along, but with a little help from the internet and a lot of patience on Pickles' part I'm hoping to get it right :D

Hi and welcome to the forum. do you live in the USA and if so which state? I would not ask, but with Quakers it is an important question as they are illegal in some states.

Welcome Veryna and Pickles! Quakers are one of my favorite species and the most important thing about their care is that they need to be kept at a strict solar schedule because, contrary to what the internet says, they are not tropical or even semi-tropical, they come from countries with temperate climate and are INTENSELY photoperiodic. Aside from that, they are GREAT eaters of produce, bathers and fliers as well as very intelligent.
