I use five different grains and dehydrated carrot, corn and peas in the gloop I make. I portion out these thing to what the birds will eat in the course of the day and store them in snack size plastic with zippers. Then all I do is pour boiling water on it and let it soak in a thermal cup over night. I put about 30 together so I only have to do it once a month. I put a package on to soak while I set up my coffee for morning. I rinse the grain twice before serving it in the morning.
Of course I chop veggies and fruit for them in pieces that are most accepted by Amazons who like to hold their food to Cockatiels who prefer to eat in bites.
Unless you have your own garden or a produce market that picks from their garden every morning it is much more nutritious to give them frozen than to give them produce that has been shipped and in the grocery store for days. While keeping the gloop prepard and in the fridge it is loosing value. I don't carry any over. They beg for what I am eating and I have to share my weak veggies and fruit but what I feed me is less nutritious than theirs. I do also separate portions from mine before I add salt or butter.

 It's the same in my house, Liz, we eat crap compared to what my birds eat! And it's the first and only thing my husband contributes to any conversation on birds: "They eat better than us! Everything organic and she (that's me :D ) has a fit if they don't get something different every day!"

Barbara, I have recently taken in a lovebird which is just a tiny bit bigger than a plet and it IS hard to physically interact them! I actually have to concentrate on my fingers' movements and nothing else when I preen him or caress his head, neck and cheeks because if I do it a bit too hard, he complains - whereas, when I touch the other, larger, birds I do it without even thinking or looking and they never complain. Usually, what I do is simply touch his head with the tip of my index finger in a caressing motion from the top of his head to the back of his neck.

And YAAAAYYYY on the gloop success!!!
