(Unwittingly) A Brand New Bird Parent

Two years ago I met my best friend. This October, we had the pleasure of becoming man and wife! With a baby on the way, a house to save for, and four ferrets, we moved into my mother-in-law's household.

I was rather unexpectedly adopted by one of their parrots; a Senegal named Calypso decided that I am HIS person by golly, if I wanted to be or not. My mother in law suggested that I accept my fate. ;) I agreed.

I have zero experience with birds; please let me ask all sorts of silly questions. I'm coming to find out that bird ownership is very rewarding, but also terrifying...

Anyway, it's nice to meet everybody!

Welcome to the forum, Calypso and Calypso's human! My husband became one of my parrots' human the same way: she decided he was 'it'! Ask away and don't worry about a question being silly -when it comes to parrots, there is no such thing!

Once you get claimed by a bird you become a "bird person". We are considered quite strange by those without birds.
