Hello for Sydney, Australia

Postby minhta » Sun Apr 18, 2010 8:22 pm

Hi everyone

Just want to say a big "G'day" from Sydney Australia. I've been looking at this site since yesterday night and I am loving this site. I found it at 11.30pm and got hooked on it until 3.30am when I finally had to succumbed to sleep and the fact that I had to get up for work in a few hours, lol. What a wealth of information this site has.

I'm looking forward to being a part of this community so to start, here is my story. My wife and I are getting a male Princess Parrot in almost 3 weeks from today (we're really looking forward to bringing him home). My wife found a lost male Princess Parrot about 6 weeks ago and once we realised it was a pet bird, we tried to find it's owner right away. I've knocked on all the doors of the houses on our street, left a message with our local Vet and stuck up posters with a picture of the parrot in the streets around our house.

It took the owner 5 weeks before she contacted us. She too have been frantically looking for him, calling the vets (including the one we left a message with) and handing out flyers. However, fate had decided that we've missed each other for 5 weeks. By then, we are quite attached to the parrot and have even gave it a new name - Roger - so we were quite sad to return it to its owner but it was the right thing to do.

Long story short, we are now getting our own parrot and looking forward to training it so it can be a loving member of the family. I will post some pictures of our new parrot once we get him :D

Hi Kimbo

The expected date is 9th May. We have bought a new cage, clickers, a calcuim perch and millets. The only thing left to buy is some food and toys. I feel like I'm letting up a nursery for a baby  I guess I'm getting a taste of why new parents behave the way they do.

My mum calls the cage a palace since it's so large, which seemed suitable since we're getting PRINCESS parrot

I will take some photos of our parrot once he's home and settled in
