Conure misbehaving

Postby Charlie *^* » Thu Feb 01, 2018 6:02 am

My sun conure is misbehaving by biting me, my brother (who has a bond with him now) and is yelling, screaming and refusing to be scratched. I am very concerned and upset because of his new behaviour :violin:

Have you been keeping him at a strict solar schedule with full exposure to dawn and dusk and not free-feeding protein food like seeds or pellets? Because, although they do get hormonal, unless they are overly-hormonal, they don't usually bite their human once they bond with him/her.

My brother who is now friends with him has been feeding him sunflower seed so I do think that that is the problem and it has my house has been covered with clouds the past 3 days there is nothing we can help about that but I will stop my brother giving him seed!

No sunflowers seeds at all this time of the year, my dear! Sun conures are mainly fruit eaters so feeding them a lot of seeds that are super high in fat and protein is real bad for them. But clouds have nothing to do with the solar schedule, it's the bird not being exposed to any artificial light at all prior to the morning sun being already up in the sky or after it's halfway down to the horizon in the afternoon that does it.
