Well, I have posted a few days with you all and I believe I posted in the wrong place. So, I am reposting here. I live in WV. I have a brand new Senegal parrot named Java. I also have 3 indoor cats, 3 outdoor cats, a pug dog, a leopard gecko, 2 ferrets and 3 pet mice, oh and a hubby (my pet pig, lol). I also have 3 human children, 2 sons and a daughter, they are 9yo, 11yo and 12yo, and they think they know everything.

Java is about 9 months old, but it bugs me that they pet shop does not know his hatch date. I called and asked. All she could tell me is he was about 8-1/2 months old when I got him. I also do not know his sex, but I call him a boy, but am thinking of doing the DNA thing. What other info will that give me? Java is very comfortable with me, but lunges at the kids. So, for now, they are not allowed to touch him.

Anywho, here is Java. I just took this video yesterday, 5/28, and picture too. Oh, also for some reason, I cannot get an avatar to work here. Anybody know what I need to do?

Can some of you tell me what the hormonal behavioral issues you are having, and if you know if your parrot is a boy or a girl, is it wprse with girls or boys, etc. Today only, I am noticing like he is annoyed or irritated. He is more nipp\y than usual, and while on my shoulder, where he usually is silent, he is screaming in my ear alot. Just wondering if this off behavior might be a bit of hormones.

This is a short video of my Senegal, Java. he is such a sweetheart.

And a picture of him.

Thanks for having this forum for newbies like me who want to do the best they can.

Hi

I'm new at parrot keeping so can't answer your question but I can help you with your avatar question. Try this:

1. Click on "User Control Panel" in the main menu at the top of the website
2. On the next page, click on the "Profile" tab, then click on "Edit avatar" on the left menu
3. Assuming you want to upload a photo that is on your computer hard drive, click on the "Browse" button next to the field titled "Upload from your machine:".
4. Navigate to where you saved the photo you want to upload and select it either by double-clicking the image file or select the file and then press the "Open" button.
5. You can leave the other fields blank and click on the "Submit" button.

Note that your avatar image has to be no more than 150 pixel wide by 150 pixel high and no more than 6KB in filesize. If you have done the above numbers and could not upload the image, I'm guessing your image is either too large or more than 6KB in size, so check the image size and file size.

Finally, your Java is very cute.
