waiting, not so patiently for my baby to wean!

Postby Mr.Darcy » Sun Jun 20, 2010 12:30 pm

Hi, I am new to the forum. I am waiting for my baby to wean to get him from the breeder. He is a baby Hahn's Macaw! Sooo cute :macaw3: I have my cage ready and set up playstand supplies ready too. I am going to make my own!
I have gone to two bird marts....NEVER AGAIN :!: I don't know what they are like in other areas but here they were pretty bad. Tiny little babies with no feathers out and about for the public....birds in holders not cages for the whole day! It was gros! I watched one breeder smack/tap a baby bird on the beak for nipping her.....duh the birds are freaking out!
I have done tonnes of research, watched youtube videos till my eyes go crossed and now I just have to wait...and wait....and wait.... :D

WOW. That is cruel!!!!!! and I can see why it is getting impatient. I would never be able to wait like that.

I know it is not easy waiting!! I put a deposit on a baby but he is only 2 weeks old so I will have to be patient until September/October... I just think of it as extra time to do more research and study all the training tips etc.....

I feel a bit like a kid waiting for Christmas! and if my memory serves me correctly, I was not very patient then either!! :P

Hahns Macaws are adorable and they have the cutest speaking voices of all of the birds I've heard talking. Congratulations! I hope the wait isn't too excrutiating.

I know EXACTLY what you mean by "waiting, not so patiently"! I am also waiting for my baby Sennie to wean. Little Hahns are terribly cute! I hope your little one is weaned and is super healthy, happy, and friendly =)

Thanks!! you too.....I have four boys and waiting for them was less stessful!! Sennies are awesome too. So cuddly! It was difficult to pick the breed of bird for me. I was really leaning towards a Green Quaker and then I saw a Hahn's..... :P

I know exactly how you feel. I hate waiting for christmas! Just kidding. If I was to get a macaw or big bird I would get set up awhile before just like you are.
