HI all im new

Postby jaquiscorpio82 » Thu Jun 24, 2010 5:40 pm

Hi i`m Jaqui i am new to the forum. I have an african grey named Sidney who is 7-10 yrs old.

I am hoping people can offer me advice on best ways to go about hand taming him.

I have had him 4-6 years and he was really untame when i got him, i am 3rd owner. So far i have managed to get him to allow me to stroke his head through bars and when hes climbed out on top of his cage, he is very nippy and im frightened to death of gettin bitten by him again.

Once out on top of his cage i can manage to towel him but that is as close as i have got to holding him.

I have tried puttin a wooden perch in his cage held in my hand for him to step on to and all he does is screams and caws loudly.

I will post a seperate post in the right area and see what you guys/gals can come up with to help me out in taming my lil man :D

I will answer any questions people have for me.

Welcome! Have you looked around in the Taming and Basic Training section? There's a lot of really good information there.

Good luck with Sidney!

Hello! Your Sidney sounds a lot like my Scarlet, and I too am afraid of getting bitten. This place is full of great information and I am sure you'll be pointed in the right direction!
