I thought the whole experience was very good - I talked to Lisa mostly through emails for two weeks before I actually went and picked up my birdie and she was fairly helpful. He's a very well socialized bird as far as I can tell (he's the first hand fed bird I've ever owned so I don't have comparison). He steps up without command very readily, he likes to get his head scratched, and tolerates petting but would really prefer not to be. He is "beaky", but I think that is his age, and seems to just like to explore and test things with his mouth before proceeding forward

The store has so many toys there! I only got to see a couple of the rooms; they didn't have any of the bigger birds, but lots of conures and brown heads that's for sure, and several african greys. They also have a little boarding area where you can keep your birds and they will take care of them if you are away for a weekend or something. Obviously that wouldn't be my first choice (concerns of catching bugs from other birds, them not being used to the level of noise, etc) but its good to know just in case. They have a decent selection of cages too.
I think brown heads are actually a lot more common in this area then in other places. It seems a lot of people view them as rather rare, whereas I've heard of at least two breeders nearby. I got a chance to meet a senegal too and they are also very sweet! Quite similar in temperment from what I saw.
And pictures, I will post some soon! Just need to borrow my roommates fancy camera for an evening
