hi, just introducing myself. I'm a proud "parront" to a female eclectus and a green cheek conure and will soon be the foster momma to a pair of cherry-headed conures from the feral flock in San Francisco.
My Jake (gcc) we got as a baby from a pet store which we now know is well known for its questionable animal re-selling practices. He will be the only bird that I buy. Jake introduced me to the wonderful world of parrots and avi-culture, needless to say I was hooked!
Our Scarlet (ekkie), or her highness as we call her

, is a rescue bird we adopted only 3 months ago! She came into the rescue plucked, shy and some would call her "phobic". When we got her (3 months after that) she had slowed down the plucking and began demonstrating her impressive vocabulary. Since she came into our home (in March) she has been an absolute joy. There is still considerable work that needs to be done to re-tame her, but she is so worth it!
On the 9th we will be picking up our foster birds, Griffith and Alta, a pair of cherry-headed conures that came into rescue when they became ill and could not be released back into their feral flock after being rehabilitated.
These are my fids!
Many have forgotten this truth, but you must not forget it.
You remain responsible, forever, for what you have tamed.
