Hi All
Im Richard and i joined yesterday after talking to Michael on YouTube. I have been keeping myself up to date with all of his latest videos of Kili and Truman!
I have a 4 month old Senegal (baby......bless him!) parrot named Jeeves. Jeeves is a Parent Reared Bird and so he is quite scared of humans and their hands! I knew that it would be difficult to get him used to humans as the only experience he has had was when he was being grabbed or netted! this isnt ideal but i am willing to be patient and i understood what the bird was going to be like when i first got him.
At the moment (ATM!) he seems to be okay with me sitting by the side of the cage (usually when he is on the floor), but i have found that when he is on his perch, he tends to panic a bit more if i get close and often jumps of his highest pirch to get away from me!
I have moved my chairs in my room next to the cage, so that whenever i am using the playstation or wanting to play the guitar or read, i am sitting close to his cage. I am hoping that this will eventually make him more relaxed to have me around and near the cage??
I joined the site as i wanted to share my interest in pet birds with you all (i dont know much, but i am willing to learn!) and i am also looking forward to being able to get good advice when i need it for myself and Jeeves!
If anyone has any suggestions as to what to do to help Jeeves gain his trust in me and everyone else in the family, please leave comments and messages as i will be grateful for all the advice you have!
Much Appreciated!!
Richard (RichL001)
