Hello! I've been lurking on this site for some time now and have finally mustered courage to join! I want to say thanks to you all for all the information and wonderfully helpful hints/tricks that you've posted here - this is a great forum. :)

My baby is Sputnik, a 10-week old budgie whom has been with me for a month. He's a total sweetheart, squeaks like a mouse, has grasped the concept of target training and is learning "turn around", and while he is clipped can still manage to fly from his cage to the window to his playgym! After only such a short period of time he has completely wormed his way into my heart.

I am happy to be a part of this forum (and hope that I've posted things correctly and will be able to figure out how to make an avatar... ;) ) -

Great profile picture Michael!

Ha ha, you got me - your staunch stance on birdie issues scared left-wing, offend-no-one Canuck me, eh! ;)

(Actually, I've just never been a part of a forum before). So, be gentle!

Thank you for your welcomes! : )

I have noticed that there are members from all over, geographically speaking, but not so many budgie folk. Are you out there? Regardless, I've been enjoying reading peoples' tales and looking at all the fabulously gorgeous bird photos here.

I've been playing around with my iPhone and trying to upload a video of Sputnik playing (of course with a silly leather string, and not any of the "real" toys he has  ) but to no avail. Ditto for an avatar. Apparently I'm more of a troglodyte than I had originally thought. Sigh.

Welcome! I'm next door in Saskatchewan! Sputnik is adorable!

My daughter has two budgies. They live in her room...so while I look after them if she's not home, they're not really part of my flock...
