I've had a male pacific parrotlet named Ransome for about three years, I got him when he was almost a year old and the pet store I got him from hadn't handled him much (they're good with birds, but they don't usually handle their smaller birds very much), so i was a little afraid to interact with him because he was so scared of hands.
Anyway, I found this forum and I've been reading a lot about clicker training on here. I've been working with Ransome for about a week and I'm so happy with the results, before I'd given up hope of ever getting him to step up from his cage and now he targets . . . fairly well, at least he looks like he's having fun
Also I've been wanting to get a senegal parrot (I met one at a pet store where I was actually looking for a pionus, further research into the species led me here) and I have met an obstacle, also known as my parents. They know nothing about birds, in fact they don't get why I like small animals at all. Here in redneckville it's either a horse, or a dog, anything else is worthless and pointless to own and you should absolutely never pay over four hundred dollars for it (they even freaked out some over the 185$ I payed for Ransome).
But I should really stop ranting. Here I am, Hi!
