Hello from Sweden!

Postby qvinta » Thu Oct 14, 2010 4:14 pm

Hello all!

My name i Annica and I'm from Sweden. I live with my two red-bellied parrots Torsten and Robin.

Torsten is the oldest with her 10 years and Robin is still a youngster scince he is soon to be 1 years old. I got Torsten in the beginning of 2010 and decided to try to find her a bird friend; hence Robin. The get along just fine and live in the same large cage together. They are so cute when the sleep huddled together on the same perch.

Torsten is a very secure bird. She isn't afraid of anything. I've started training her to do some tricks. So far she can do the flighted recalls, "perch-spin" and "high-4". Robin is the totally opposite of Torsten. He is shy and he knows his step-ups pretty good but he need much more training to be able to relax around different people.

Both my red-bellies talks a lot. Mostly the say "Hi Torsten" or calls for the dog to come. I usually wake up in the mornings to the sound of Robin training his different words. When I first got him he screamed a lot but now he mostly talks or whistles.

I seem to have written quite a lot about my birds

They're beautiful! I love the females, they have such a sweet look to them.

Are you not concerned about them mating if they live in the same cage?

There is something about female Red Belled but some people don't like their look. I think they are great, wish I had one.

I will take a while longer for Robin to reach sexual maturity so I'm not worried right now. I actually think I would like them to have babies in the future.
