Hello, my name is Erin. Me and my boyfriend Max, own one Sun conure, Lyrick and one GCC Gypsy.
I have owned birds from when I was very young, and even had a cockatiel I helped train in flight recall. After Tiny I got four Budgies that I loved! They were the reason Homework never got completed. I rescued a few more cockatiels that got to stay with me until they chose there own owners.
Lyrick was a choice since the house felt so empty. He was a hand reared bird from a reputable breeder. He is also are pride and joy, we took him everywhere starting from the first month. He knows how to wave, nod, fetch, turn around, target and flight recall from anything less then a foot. the reason I say anything less then a foot is, he seems to be scared of heights... if you are going down steps he huddles at your neck until you reach the floor, if you are standing on a balcony he screams until you get him off of it. I think this is odd but not a problem since you cal call him from any part of the house and he will walk to you, he will not fly there though.
He is a year old, and loves to tell you witch bands he likes and help his daddy play the guitar. We are working on the how to shake his head. (we have tried blowing above his nose... he tries to eat the air instead. we found a string works better)
Gypsy is a very new addition and has a good bit of time before she gets to see her brother. she is a turquoise pineapple who is incredibly acrobatic. She has the most unique chirp I have ever herd! She is happy to take treats from our hands and happy to get pets on her time, we have yet to get her out of the cage or get her to step up. She loves to be watched when she is playing with toys. We hope to have her hand tame very soon, since she is so friendly, but we have no reason to rush her there!
