Hello from Ontario

Postby Chris&Akilah » Sun Oct 24, 2010 6:24 pm

Hi, my name's Chris. I'm 30 years old and live in Woodstock, Ontario Canada. Yesterday I purchased my first parrot, a 10 week old Senegal whom I named Dino. I'll undoubtedly have many questions and concerns as time goes on, looks like there are lots of Senegal owners here so I chose to join this forum (there's tons of parrot forums!!). Also, while my bird is clipped right now, I hope one day he/she (gonna get the DNA test soon) can be flighted, I'm not really comfortable with denying a bird the ability to fly...looks like I'll find lots of help with that topic here.

Anyway, here's Dino!

Welcome! And Dino is adorable! I miss that little baby parrot look - they are so sweet looking as babies.

I have a 5 year old Red Belly, a 4 year old Senegal and just adopted a 2 year old Meyers yesterday. You will find a wealth of information on this forum. Lots of parrot owners with experience and lots of training information.

Dino is adorable! I've just gotten my bird too, he was going to be a 'Dino' too, but I changed my mind at the last minute. There's lots of great information on this forum - and I'm amazed at how quickly my bird is learning.

See you round :)

Hi Chris
I'm in Ontario too and Dino is adorable. I'm owned by a rehomed male Meyers named Bronco who we say is now 6 1/2 years because we don't have a lot of previous history. Looks like you're starting off great with his diet which can be a challange. Just a different colour of something like grapes scares Bronco.
I guess you've been warned about chewing. Bronco is getting his new cage tomorrow because he decided to chew the coating off his old one. He can't chew the aluminim one I'm getting.
Is your vet Dr.Tucker in London? He's the best one in your area.
Waiting to get a parrot at your age is better because the older you get it can be a challenge and when you're younger you don't necessarily realize what you're in for in the furture or have the patience to cope witha 3 year old who never grows up!
Enjoy your new Fid(Feathered Kid)
