New love bird mom

Hi Everyone!
I am the proud owner of a peach faced lovebird. I have only had him for about 6 weeks. He is warming up to me but still won't let me touch him. He comes up to me in the cage and plays peek-a-boo with me in his little fuzzy tent. But he runs from my hands and when I let him out of his cage he won't come close to me. I just leave him out until he is ready to go back in. I always let him out in the extra bathroom because there isn't anything he can get into in there and I am always there too. Any tips on how to cure his shyness? He is very sweet and is talking up a storm.

Welcome to the forum , glad to read your from NC, we're here on the outer banks.Don't have a lot of history on your bird, put alot of people on this site will recommend target/clicker training to get him over his fear of hands, it works and dosn't take long, look further down the forum in the training section.Richard
