New Bird

Postby kiwismom » Thu Nov 18, 2010 11:46 pm

I have put a deposit on a hand fed Quaker parrot. It won't beready for a few weeks. The breeder also has conures. He has Sun Conures,Green Cheeked Conures and Pineapple Conures. I can't decide which bird to get. The little Quakers were so sweet but the Green cheeked conure was fiesty and nippy. After reading about Quakers online I am not sure that is the right bird for me. Can you guys help me out? :swaying:

Quakers can be very loud I hear :quaker:

I'd say, go with the Pineapple or the Green Cheek. A lot of people on here own them, and they seem like a joy to have. :gcc:

**Also, sun conures, though extremely pretty, scream VERY loudly. :sun:

Quakers are very noisy and very demanding of your time and energy, though they are great talkers. Sun Conures are noisy as well, but not as demanding as Quakers. Given the choices you listed, I would suggest the Green Cheeked or the Pineapple. Quieter and just as entertaining. A big bird in a small body.

Birds are a miracle because they prove to us there is a finer, simpler state of being which we may strive to attain.

Quakers are also illegal to own in some states, CA being one of them. May be a factor if moving is an option down the road. I hear that they are pretty cool little birds though, with good talking potential.
