This is Perseus- he's about 9 months old or so and he's brand new at the house. We got him the day before Thanksgiving (yeah he was a bit nervous LOL) and he's a LOT happier now and starting to settle in at our place. He spends all day on his cage (I keep it open- covering at night) and I'm working on him to get him hand tame. He won't step up but I put my hand on the cage or lean against the cage and he'll preen me and give kises and let me rub his cheeks and stroke his back. Just a matter of time until he spends all his time on my shoulder!
This is Hades (the cockatiel) and Cassiopeia and Plato (parrotlets- The Kids) at the perch. These guys spend most of the day on this perch (or flying over to Perseus' cage to annoy him) or in their cages to eat. The parrotlets EACH eat as much as Hades does! They are full of energy. Hades was owned by a lady who couldn't take care of him and spend time with him so she gave him to me. I don't beleive he was hand-raised so he's a bit stand offish but loves that perch! He's hand tame and friendly enough. The Kids came from a breeder who did a great job hand-raising them. They have each other and get along well with us and are hand tame and Cass loves to cuddle in small doses. Cass is the resident bully and tries to run the house. Hades and Plato submit to the Alpha-bird but Perseus has NONE of it and Cass bullies from across the room LOL. It's funny to see!My boys love the birds and they are each trying to get a bird to bond with them. I've told them it takes a long time and they are working on it with treats and stepping up. I never expected the birds to be such a great way to spend time and a common obsession with the boys. the birds bring our family together. My girlfriend has never had birds but she's catching on fast!
