Hi I,m new

Postby sioux » Fri Dec 17, 2010 5:18 pm

Hi
I,m new to the forum but not to parrots,My name is Sue and i live in the UK
I,m currently a flock member of my Amazon called Enrhico who is a yellow headed amazon [ I think]
He is approx 6 yrs old and cannot fly because of a badly damaged wing from previous owner
It was dislocated at his shoulder and broken and twisted from his elbow , It was left untreated for about 3 years when i got him i took him to my vet ASAP to get him looked at as he looked very uncomfortable [ he wasnt in pain i dont think he was to happy] My vet thought he may have to amputate his wing but luckily he still has the two wings he can only move the one properly , the damamged one just moved a bit from his shoulder, he wont step onto me but loves a fuss and head and body rub from me.His play stand is his domain his safe area and he wont leave it .

My other new comer is a 3 year old Macaw called Zig, i have had him about 6 weeks now he is settling in very well he will come to all of us except my daughtewr who is scared of him and wont let him on her lol ,
I must say i would rather be bitten by Zig that Ericho [Eric for short]
well thats me except for adding i also own a japaneese Akita called Kia she lets all my pets live a happy and free life with out being caged all the time to keep them apart for an Akita she is excellent with mhy othet pets she wold never harm them [ but i dont take chances either]

Perhaps you could post a picture of your amazon and we could help determine whether or not you have a yellow headed amazon.

May I ask what kind of Macaw Zig is? I love hearing macaw stories, they're like kids trapped in a birds body!

Welcome to the forum!

OH YEAH!!!! "Jake" says he looks like a Yellow Nape Amazon, Almost as pretty as she is. Welcome to the forum, Richard and Jake PS jake is a YN also she has a lot more color because of her "advanced years" , Older Yellow headed Amazons turn grey as they age but instead of turning grey they lose the blue pigment in their head and neck feathers which results in their feathers turning yellow instead of green. When jake was a baby she only had a couple of yellow feathers now (40yrs) her's starting to look more like a Double Yellow Head Amazon
