Hey there, me and the flock say hi

Postby Grey_Moon » Wed Jan 05, 2011 3:09 am

Hi there everyone,

My flock and I finally decided to stop creeping and join the forum!
My name is Sammael, Sam for short and I am currently a poetic eccentric in college with a passion for parrots, the arts, natural and alternative lifestyles and debates. With that in mind, if I get all poetic and off on a tangent or start writing a book---please, feel free to slap me upside the head.
I am, despite the rigidity of the required gender-labelling on the forum (really---there should be another option than male/female :( ), someone who identifys as a two-spirit and thus am genderfluid so if the self-pronouns and such get mixed and jumbled don't panic I just dont always identify as a woman, man, human or anything else depending on how I feel

Anyway, I'm here for my flock's issues :P not mine. My first parrot partner was Jacko my timneh grey--he is an 10 year old rescue who came to me plucking, terrified, unsocialized and sad. 5 years later he is flighted and a self-confident little poop disturber though he still plucks. If he wasn't such a viciously jealous little bugger I'd say he was perfect. He is very snuggly and tame, I can pick up his feet, his wings and etc....just dont ask him to recall lol he decides that if I get beyond stretching out to get to my hand distance he'll just fly down and eat the carpet instead . Obviously, I'd like some help so he can keep his wings as I am very much opposed to clipping parrots and strongly believe in adapting to fufill a parrot's needs as wild animal.

Sully was my second flockmate and is a 4 year old pied male cockatiel who was a gift and came to me just after he was weaned. He is also is fully flighted (although a terrible clip as a baby means he's catching up on his skills). He's sweet and cuddly, but like most tiels he spooks easily so it is very hard to know what he'll do once out of his cage. He has some hormonal overbonding issues and screaming but I'm trying to resolve them. His flightiness and Jacko's violent jealousy are some of the biggest issues I'm having right now vis-a-vis his being flighted---but again, I'm determined to keep him flighted for his own birthright and health.

So, that's us :) looking forward to all the help and insight and stuff on the forum!
:gray: ---Jacko (13 year old TAG rescue and my little turkey-bird girl :) )
