.:Greetings and Salutations:.

Postby Carry » Fri Jan 07, 2011 10:55 pm

Hey there, my name is Elizabeth and I sort of stumbled upon this wonderful looking site just this morning and decided to join this 'flock' as you might put it.

:gcc: <3 :gcc:

Like I said above, my name is Elizabeth {but you can all call me Carry if you wish, it's sort of my online name so to speak}. I am sixteen years old and am planning to become a veterinarian’s assistant for my carrier path. I am also thinking about maybe specializing in avian work cause my little two GCC's have blessed my heart and I'd love to work with more birds in my life. {even if I get the occasional bite-the-finger move}

I have two lovely little GCC's.
They are Kiwi {f} and Kermit {m}.
My mother felt I was ready for the responsibility of getting a bird when I turned fourteen, and she blessed me with little Kiwi. Who we purchased from a young collage student who found he could no longer give her the love and attention between classes and work {she was only a little younger then a year at the time}. She quickly seemed to bound to me.

Then tragedy struck, summer was over and school was to begin and my mother was offered a day jog, leaving little Kiwi alone. My mother and I would not have this, so we decided to get her a little companion. A friend of my mothers gave us their little Cockatiel named River, who we found out was not very friendly and seem to be wilder then anything. {she tried to attack Kiwi many times even when Kiwi was in her own cage} So we returned River and decided maybe to get another GCC.

And that’s when Kermit comes in {we were told he was about two years old}. He came into our lives just before school would start for me, and he seemed extremely found of little Kiwi. They bounded rather quickly and are now just a little pair of cuties.

Sadly, Kermit is not very found of me, actually he sort of hates me and sees me like a threat when it comes to spending time with my baby girl, Kiwi.

But I will say this: I had a breakthrough today. ^-^
Kermit sort of jumped-fluttered and hopped over to him and sat on my shoulder for a few hours, just playing with my hair. I felt so happy that he finally seems to be warming up to me after these past {almost} two years.

And, I sort of want to show off my babies <3

And there you have it, my little 'bird tail of a tale'.

Hey Carrie and welcome to you and Kiwi/Kermit.Very nice photos, your GCC seem to be best buds, which could make them alittle slow to bond with you.Maybe with time and love Kermit will come around.Good Luck and welcome to the forum.

@zazanomore – Thank you ^-^

@captwest – Thank you for the welcome and I really hope so, but he seems to be growing more found of me for the last week. And thank you, I love to take pictures of my little babies, my Kermit some times likes to stop what he is doing so he can climb on my camera. xD

hi!
this is my first day here! I recently purchased two 7 mo old female parrotlets: one (Coco) from a soon-to-matriculate college student who couldn't take the bird to a dorm -- and the second (Lola)from a woman who - for a reason unknown to me - wasn't working with her bird and didn't want her. I've had them for about 2 weeks and having been a dog owner for the past 30 yrs - have already made a few mistakes! tg for the Forum and other websites! They're doing great! The dogs love them and they're fine with the dogs!

Welcome! And I must say, what a well spoken/written young lady you are, you don't sound like a 16 yr old at all! It's a fresh change.
