Just stopping by to introduce my self and my feather'd friends! Pam here I'm from Iowa. I am owned by Kiwi a sun conure And recantly just got a 20 yr. old Amazon named Jake . I got interested in birds a few yrs. ago from a co worker , she owned a sun. Beautiful I thought! I want one BUT i was terrified of birds . Sooo I went to the pet store and told them I had been eyeing the sun they had and wanted it . But there was a problem i was scared of birds. i ASKED if they would work with me on it and they said sure! I went there every day after work and they worked with me with Kiwi and in 2 weeks I brought Kiwi home! Have had her for over a year now a year now . So decided i wanted to go bigger and was intreged (sp) by Amazons and now have Jake have had him for a little over a month now! I LOVE IT!!!!! This site is awesome by the way!!!!!

Welcome to you Pam and your flock! That is a very interesting and inventive way to overcome your fears and to ensure that you and Kiwi could get used to each other before "moving in together". And kudos to the pet store for allowing you to do this. Obviously the staff there are interested in their animals well being and in great customer service. A place like that deserves loyalty and repeat business.

I agree !!!! And NOW that is where i do all my bird shopping , dog shopping ect. I recomend them to others too. They will order what ever you need .!

Hey Pam, i posted on your 1st thread, anyway welcome to the forum. I too have a amazon named Jake. But he's a she, Jake is a Yellow Nape and your Jake appears to be a Double Yellow Head, both are sub-species of the Yellow Crown Amazons. Good to have more Amazon people on here, Richard
