Not new to the forum but I DO have new birdies!!

Postby CheekyandMalolo » Mon Jan 17, 2011 6:19 pm

I know I haven't been on here much recently, but I thought I'd introduce 2 new birds that we've gotten recently. There're somewhat of a Christmas present for my partner and I.
So, meet Aurora and O'tika, our Yellow Sided and Pineapple GCCs.
They're the most amazing birds, so playful and cuddly. We got them from a breeder in Pyalong, Vic who was lovely to deal with. So we now have 2 very well adjusted birds who're fitting in quite nicely into our little family.
We're thinking that Aurora will be my bird and O'tika will be my partner's, cause from what we've experienced, female birds seem to bond well with men, so hopefully male birds bond well with women. So far that seems to be the case, and I just adore Aurora.
we've just introduced them to my Tiel Mali over the weekend, so not quite a month quarantine, but they're healthy as anything and there wasn't a sick looking chick at the breeder's. She runs a very tight operation. So far they aren't the best of friends with Mali yet, but there's no fights either, just cautious of each other and the occasional shove away from food.
We had a big problem with biting from Tika to start off with, couldn't ask her to step up without getting repeatedly bitten, but she's gotten so much better now that we've gotten to know each other. She rarely bites now other than if she's frightened or over-tired. They've both learnt to step up so quickly, picked it up in an hour or so. And such little acrobats too, they hang upside down off the bars of the clothes horse and swing for ages, do flips on their perch. I don't remember cheeky being like this at all, and they're a lot chattier too. You could say I'm a little smitten, and they're jus perfect for my partner, he's really missed his Cheeky-Girl.
No photos till I figure out how to upload photos off my iPhone.
