Greetings from snowy Iowa

Postby sherillynn » Thu Feb 03, 2011 12:49 pm

I just found this forum and I am so excited. I have two parrots currently and have inherited a third that I'll be picking up on 2/16.

Bonnie is a 31 year old Blue and Gold Macaw that came into my life 2 years ago. The lady who owned her is a dear sweet gal in her 80's that had Bonnie from an egg. She had been experiencing health issues and was afraid of dying and leaving Bonnie behind. She was gracious enough to rehome Bonnie with me and we've kept in touch the past couple years. Bonnie is so sweet and has a great vocabulary.

Hope is an alost two year old Eclectus that I got last January. She is just learning to talk and I am really hoping that I'll be able to learn some basic training techniques from the forum so that I can continue to bond with Hope. She went through a nippy phase a few months ago but I think we are out of that now.

The third parrot I am expecting belonged to a gal I met once in the ER. She recently passed away and her husband remembered us talking about parrots and asked if I would take theres. It is a 7 year old female Jardine's parrot. She had been very well bonded with her owner but not so much with the husband. Any advice on integrating a third bird would be appreciated. I'll let you all know when she comes to her new home.

For now I am waiting to get her because I leave for my honeymoon on Saturday! Looking forward to lots of new bird friends (addicts!)

Blessings,
Sherill :rainbow: :macaw:
I once had a sparrow alight upon my shoulder for a moment, while I was hoeing in a village garden, and I felt that I was more distinguished by that circumstance that I should have been by any epaulet I could have worn.
