All the way from Brisbane :)

Postby NuItch » Sat Apr 16, 2011 5:09 pm

Hello everybody.
I have two green cheeks Chico and Greenie and they are the coolest.
They have the funniest little qwerks ever and provide hours of entertainment.
If anyone has any questions about green cheeks personality etc I'd be happy to answer.

That's a beautiful picture!

I also have a GCC and we're in the middle of hormonal season here. They really are such funny little birds, even when they're driving you wacko!

NuItch
Welcome from a fellow newbie and GCC servant. Are your birds clutch-mates, buddies, or a mated pair ? Did you get them at the same time, or did you introduce one later ? Mine gets frustrated with me when I don't understand his pseudo-English; he'll repeat himself once and then nip me on the ear when I don't do what he asks. They're definitely loaded with personality and entertainment value. :gcc: :)

GCC's are the best
I got Chico first from a pet store about 12 months ago. Poor thing had psittacosis so he had to go to the vet to have one injection a week for 6 or 8 weeks to get better.
About 6 months after I got him he was very unhappy with me working all the time and my vet was looking to re-home her GCC because she didn't have enough time to spend with him so I took Greenie home as a buddy for Chico.
Greenie is now about 3 and Chico is about 1.
They got off to a rocky start (mostly due to my inexperience with introducing new birds) but now they're best friends and live in the same cage.
Greenie thinks he's a sun conure because he was homed next to a breeding pair for those 2 and a half years so he can get quite loud when he gets upset.
They are the cheekiest pair of birds, constantly stealing each others food just to throw it on the ground so th other bird can't eat it, always bathing in their drinking water, sometimes Chico will even hold down Greenie's claw when Greenie is trying to walk somewhere.
Wow, it almost sounds like they don't like each other but I can assure you they do love each other :)
They are the funniest pets I've ever owned!

My GCC has pooped on my budgies and they don't share the same cage! He's just not too courteous about where he goes. He also has a habit of pooping in his water. And he steals the budgies foods, too. They're cute little troublemakers!
