hi just joined. i have 2 birds penny :gcc: with us for three yrs and rocky :amazon: just rehomed with us last month

i have lived with 4 birds 1st was blue front :amazon: he was mistreated by family members until he came to me we just lost him in january. 2nd was a :rainbow: who hated me but fell in love with my aunt so she took her then penny came to me as a companion for my blue front when we lost him my :gcc: was becoming aggressive so i was finally going to get anew baby with no trauma but a sucker for sad cases took rocky :amazon: an abandoned 12 yr old

thanx my 1st was a blue front but we grew up together so it was easier to bond. but rocky is taking a little longer than expected plus he is larger than i thought he would be its alittle intimidating always open to advice

Don't be intimadated , Amazons seem to respond well to a strong out going personality, They are perfectly happy to be part of the flock and need a good strong leader, If left to their own ,they seem to have more problems and get into trouble.Don't be afraid, he can pick up on it and then it's him setting the tone of your relationship because he controls you.Yes take it easy and don't put him in the posision of biting you to make his feelings known; ie, that's enough petting, If he wants pets than give him alittle and stop before he bites to let you know that that's enough.ALWAYS leave him wanting more of your attention ,I know it's hard not to cuddle but becareful. I've rambled enough, just my 2 cents worth, Richard
