Hi! I usually go by Fey. I live in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, and I've been bird brained for close to 10 years now.
I started with a lovely cobalt opaline budgie named Squeaker, and he was my buddy for quite a while before he passed. He had a friend, Tweety a yellow recessive pied budgie, who passed as well. It took me a few years before I was interested in birds much.
I have had my two finch girls for 3 years now, Bette and Flo, and I love having them. I had adopted a pair of parrotlets, but due to misinformation and my own bad bird-keeping, I lost them both. I had very nearly sworn off birds but decided to adopt a budgie again. He is an olive green, and quite the little firecracker.
I still consider myself an absolute newbie to bird keeping, and I've had some heartbreak due to my own lack of knowledge, but while they were hard lessons, I learned a lot from them. I hope through better information and better research, I can one day find myself ready for a big guy.
I love the sounds budgies make, and while my husband can't stand when Nibbler goes into his squawks, I find a well placed whistle makes him start singing again. My Zebra finch will also sometimes meep back at me, and I just love it.
