Hi

Postby hoshinokachi264 » Wed Apr 27, 2011 10:53 am

Hi I am new here. I currently don't have any birds as I am in the process of looking for the right one to adopt. I have been planning on adopting an African Grey Parrot for over 5 years now but needed to make sure I understood the responsibilities, and that it was something I really wanted to do.

I am hoping that being part of a site like this will help me learn more about living with parrots and training them properly.

Thank you for your time! :gray:

Hiya!

Is there a rescue near you? If you have minimal large bird experience, fostering an african grey for six months might be a really good idea. Never know, that foster period may turn into a permanent situation.

If you foster and you don't have much bird experience, try to get the rescue to let you foster a bird that has no/minimal behavioral issues. Like a beloved bird that lost its home because its owner died or some good reason like that. Not a bird that's a plucker, a screamer, a biter, etc.

This might be an informative thread we just had:

Welcome to the forum!

Being owned by a Grey is marvelous :) I wouldn't trade our Merlin (aka Goofball) for anything!
