Hi there!

Postby HeatherFeather » Wed May 11, 2011 9:58 am

Hello,

Two guesses as to what my name is, but I'm from the Evergreen State known as Washington, and just love birds! Well, there's more to me than that, naturally, but you get the idea.

I am in the process of saving up my parrot-fund (a couple hundred may seem like nothing compared to some but to a single, working full time mom with student loans, it's a months supply of gas or diapers, so it's taking me a while!)

I hope to get a parrotlet or a conure and someday I would love even bigger, perhaps a macaw. (I'll keep dreamin!)

Anyway, don't know how often I'll be on here but I look forward to getting to know the community and their bird buddies. (And introducing mine when he/she flies in!)

Welcome to the forum, Heather.

Welcome! This is a great forum! I know how hard it is to be a single mom, I used to be one. Kudos to you! We are always dreamin' birds around here, you will fit right in! I love parrotlets, keep thinking of adding one of my own. Next on my list is a green cheek!

Got it! I'll be checking out that thread next..

I really, really want a Quaker. Love those fluffy darlings! Green Cheeks are too cute, too. When will you be getting him/her?

As soon as I can talk my husband into it? Haha, he is not as big of a bird nut as I am but he tolerates me anyway. ;)

I have a Quaker! She is a mess! Love her to bits, so much personality. I have a love bird too- she is a sassy little thing that will tell you off in a heartbeat!

My dream bird is an African Grey, leaning towards a TAG. That will have to come down the road, my little ones are still too little and demanding.

You know, I guess that is one plus to being a SINGLE mother... Nobody to convince... ;)

I hear ya though - how old are your kids? Next month my daughter will be three and my son will be one and a half. *sigh*
