Hi Folks,
I found this forum yesterday but didn't have time for introductions.
I live in Florida and here is my Blue Front, Tico! I guess her name should be 'Tica", but we named her before the DNA test. Tico is now 5 or 6, I can't remember. Hate to admit it, but she was an impulse buy at a bird show and still needed hand-feeding for quite a while.
Tico lives most of the time on a big perch I built for her in the living room. She has a night-time cage, too, but I stuck it outside on the front porch recently (SOMEONE hit puberty and the screaming twice a day last month, especially in the A.M., was ear splitting), so she has been sleeping on it too, also. She eats Exact pellets, lots of fruits and veggies, and usually, what we have for dinner. She has a pretty decent vocabulary, but her favs are "I love you!" and "Tico!", which she will say in about 10 different ways when she gets going...drawing out some syllables and changing voices. Her latest ones are "Here kitty kitty kitty" and it sounds like she is trying to bark like a dog. I was kind of surprised, since she hadn't come up with anything new in a while.
The husband and I are thinking about another bird baby this fall. He wants a Macaw, but I'm leaning towards a Yellow or Double-Yellow. We are going to be moving to the Keys in a couple years, and really want to build a big flight area outside there. At that point, we'll adopt some birds, but until then, I'm too afraid to adopt a large bird I haven't raised that could bite my finger off. We both adore Cockatoos, but I think they need too much attention for us.
Anyway, I'm enjoying reading some of the posts here...(I got a real kick out of "If you can't bite the one you want..."! -- so true) and figured I'd let you know!
It keeps saying "The Board Attachment Quota has been reached", so I'll post her pics in General Parrot Care...if it will let me!
