Hello everyone!

Hello there everyone!
I'm brand spanking new to the forums and to the bird ownership world. I just acquired a 7 or 8 year old Senegal parrot named Bogey a few days ago. :) I'm proud to say he likes me the best out of everyone in the household. He talks to me a lot and will even run up to the side of the cage when I come so I can pet his head. Haven't quite gotten to the point of getting him out of the cage yet as I heard he can get a little bit snippy if you try to pick him up in his cage... I don't think he really knows any basic training, but he can talk really well.
I'm hoping in the next couple days or so me and Bogey will have the guts to let me pick him up. I can't wait to play with him and try and teach him some tricks!
I'm glad to be here and am hoping you all will help me on this wonderful journey that lies before me. :)

:senegal: Oh, I couldn't resist. ;)

Welcome.

Very few birds like to be picked up from a confined space. Leave the cage door open. When he comes out and climbs on top he will probably let you pick him up.

I have two tiels that came to me untamed. I let them fly until they were tired and landed. They were very happy for me to pick them up then.

Congratulations on your Sennie. I am also a new owner of a baby Senegal. We love him to death. They are so smart. All I have to do is open his door and he comes right out to me. He loves to be wherever the humans are in the house. If the room is empty he will let ya know. Lol... Thank god for portable perch stands. :senegal:
