Hello Everyone..NEED ADVICE!

Postby Army.Wifey1990 » Mon Jul 18, 2011 12:03 pm

My name is Nicole.

I have loved birds all my life but my parents always said all they do is squak and poo. So i was never allowed to have one. Now i have my own family (my husband and 2 children) and its a perfect time to have my birds :). I have a 8 month old Jenday Conure,he is a DNA male. I got him from a pet store thats been around for 25 years. I am also getting a blue parakeet (baby)today.

i just got a Blue English Budgie thats 4 months old today. On the way home Gizmo (our budgie) he started opening and closing his mouth really fast. he's been doing it for 30 mins now. Is it stress? It only took me 15mins to tame him and he was on and off panting during me taming him. is this serious or just stress? :budgie:

Might sound obvious, but have you tried offering him some water?
If not, call your avian vet perhaps... Might have something lodged in his throat...

I've heard 45n and even 30, but 15 minutes!?! and your parents did not let you get a bird?!? HOW DID YOU DO THAT! also, your budgie may be stressed or needs water, its how i remedied other budgies my aunt had. if that doesn't work, then thor may be right (heheh i like that name) when in doubt, GET TO A VET! :danicing:

Offer him water.

If that doesn't work use a small straw if you can manage. Put it just past his tounge then suck.

Or get it to a vet.

I did try water :). I had gotten him from petco and i was really debating getting a bird from petco. As i dont believe the petco assoc. are very qualified for bird handling. But i did and it turned out my instincts were right. He had severe pneumonia and was too far gone :(.

Im really good with animals. If i go in a bet store every bird even ones that dont like females or are shy will demand my attention. When i got my conure there were birds flying off there perches and landing at my feet. The store had a bird in cage he was a sun conure and he kept rolling over and making whistleing noises at me. He was the sweetest bird but to everyone else he was in the cage as he was an aggressive bird. My parents were dog and cat people not bird people. Im not a dog or cat person. :sun:

You say too far gone. Did he die? Did you take him back to the pet store? Did you give them a good "piece of your mind" and ours too?

It is heartbreaking to loose a little one. I could feel the stress in the words you typed. I am so sorry that you had to go through such an experience. I am so sorry that your little one had too.

Here on the Forum you are not alone. Their are many knowledgable people here who will help you or guide you to the person who can. We go through the loss with you.

Where are you? Nothing can replace a lost baby but another one to love will heal the wound. Someone in the Forum lives in your are and can point you in the right direction.

First you have to wash and disinfect everything. I put everything I can in he dishwasher and set it for sanitize then I rinse it to make sure I get all the chemicals off. do it while you are still mourning as to not prolong the pain.
