Buckle Down

Postby parrotlover » Wed Jul 20, 2011 7:06 pm

OK I really need to 'Buckle Down' on ym research. I need to know almost everything about every beginner Parrot owner. A website would help; but I need answers from people that actually have them, and have cared for them for years. And since my mom does night shifts she has to sleep during the day. So, is haveing a parrot going to piss her off while she's trying to sleep or is there a way to keep the noise level low. Like by putting something in the cracks of her door. Like a towel at the bottom, would that help? Also a parrot that won't live Forever (That may sound mean but what if I can't have the parrot at that time or I can't find time to interact with it?) Please someone help me. And just showing me a URL or telling me what thread or soemthing to go to doesn't really help. I need details please. Thank you all who have actually been trying to help me figure out whicj parrot might be right for me. I just Really need to find out what parrot is right for me or if one at all is right for me.

Parrotlet's seem to be good. I read on this websit here http://www.parrotletranch.com/parrotletinfo.html and it's very good for first time owners who might be thinking of a getting a parrotlet. But keep posting othe rparrots that are good for beginners. I know all about the Budgie's aka Parakeet's so no need to waste your time. :) Thanks for the help those that do. ;)

Also my dad said his mom had a white Cockatiel and he said they're not that loud..... :greycockatiel:

The smaller the bird the smaller the voice.
:swaying: Love Birds make tweeter sounds.
:budgie: Budgies tweeter and squack.
:greycockatiel: Cockatiels tweet, chatter and sing (most beautiful voice I have ever heard.
:macaw: Macalls can be heard all over the neighborhood.

You can close your bedroom door on a little bird and no one will notice that it is there, but your mother will get used to the little noises and they won't bother her.

When my windows are open the neighbors say :amazon: Rambo and :amazon2: Myrtle sound like two little kids.

It really depends how sensitive your mother is to noise and how far from her bedroom the bird will be. If your mum is a sensitive sleeper then even the twittering of a budgie might be too much for her. Our neighbours have two budgies and when their cage is outside we can hear them from inside our living room (doors shut).

Huuu. She can be a hard sleeper soemtimes. And her room is sort of right next door but I know where I can put the cgae in my room to where it's isn't by my door. I think I'm going to get a Cockatiel though because my dads wanting me to. And because he still thinks that Cockatiels are quieter then Parakeets. I don't know why he just does. But he says his mom had one and it was a bit quiet. Lol but if it's loud I got this forum to tell him I told you so! lol

Females don't ever whistle, so you can try to get a female. Males are very noisy, I guarantee you. The one your dad had was likely a female. It's a shame that some parents think they know it all.. There are many of us here who live and have interacted with various species.
