Greetings from Robin! (o,o)

Postby Katrice » Mon Aug 15, 2011 10:12 am

Robin and i are really glad to have found this page! Meet Robin, a Sun Conure who is less than a year old... Robin was given to us as a gift by a vet who breeds all sorts of birds *as i was told* We're even not quite sure if Robin is a he or a she or how old he/she really is... All we know is two more weeks before we can get off the formula we hafta mix with water before feeding... Anyone wanna make a guess how old Robin is, before we get in touch with the vet? :-) :sun:

Robin just instantly won our hearts, he's beautiful, seems quite smart, really sweet, also loves to snuggle... Everybody loves him so much!!! We would like to get to know other bird lovers out there and learn better how to care and keep Robin happy! :-) for the past 2 days we have been taking him out, and wrapping him in a scarf when it seems a bit cold... Is it okay we take him out with us like say to a mall or just out for a drive?

Hi and welcome! Sun conures sure are beautiful birds, I have always wanted one!

So I will answer your question on if you can take him to the mall or a drive. Yes, but if you are taking him in the car, it is helpful to have a small bird carrier. Just like a cage but smaller. So you can take him to the mall in the carrier, but if you want to let him out it is best to have a flight harness so he doesn't get spooked by anyone and fly away. In my opinion, the best flight harness is the aviator harness. these can be bought online for a fairly cheap price.

Good luck with him! :sun:

Hi thanks so much for the tip! :-) hmmm... A bird carrier sounds like a good thing to have if we go eat... He doesn't fly yet, so he normally stays on my shoulder or peeks out of my bag wrapped in a scarf if there are a lot of people or if the air conditioning is chilly... Now that you have mentioned it, i was actually just looking up which one would be best to buy... Another question answered! :-) thought best to get him used to it before he starts flying but not quite sure about the size... Came across XS for large conures and a smaller size for small conures... Think it means for older and younger sun conures? Or do i stick to XS?

Cool! I've actually wanted a sun conure too! 'Ill post you a picture of a branch I used for a perch! It saved me a good $20 on perches! Though I did buy a rope and chewable perch. Also make sure you have a search box with toys and trets in it. They love that if they get bored.
