Hello and question

Postby Elsnow » Sun Aug 21, 2011 11:24 am

I have a recently widowed 19 year old male Yellow Lutino cockatiel and have been trying hard to find him a new mate. In that process I met a lovely woman who is trying to carefully rehome a male Senegal about 6-7 years old.

Dare I try to see if these two might be compatible? I know not to put them in the same cage right off the bat. Id love to help her and solve my own issue at the same time, if possible.

Anyone have any experience along this line? I am an experienced small bird owner, but have never had any parrots...

Thank you for your help in advance!!

Yikes, do not put them together! Even though tiels and Senegals are both parrots, Senegals are known for killing their mates and also being quite bird aggressive. They will not become friends.

Welcome.

I'd also never house a cockatiel and a Senegal together, the sheer difference in beak force between the two would be too risky.
